About the Craft
The art of papercutting — the delicate process of transforming a single sheet of paper into intricate designs — lies at the heart of Jupi’s creative vision. Each piece is patiently hand-cut, capturing the essence of daily life, nature, and the diverse cultures that shape our small yet vibrant world. Deeply rooted in her own Indian heritage and inspired by traditions from around the globe, Jupi’s work celebrates the joyful energy and quiet strength of human stories and cultural expressions.
Every gentle curve, smooth transition, and precise line is crafted entirely by hand using only a knife and scissors, which never mass-produced or commercially reproduced. Combining techniques and materials such as Japanese Origami, Silhouette, and Chinese Rice Paper, each creation is carefully mounted three-dimensionally and made exclusively with museum-quality materials. Some artworks are further enhanced with hand-painted acrylics, watercolors, or subtle airbrush details on the backboard, adding depth and character. Each design is individually cut and meticulously handcrafted, ensuring that every piece meets the highest standards of artistry and excellence.
